Iron Mountain, a global leader in data center and colocation services, faced the challenge of interconnecting its facilities to meet rising enterprise and cloud operator demand for scalable, low-latency connectivity. To extend its offerings beyond basic "space and power," the company partnered with vendor Ciena to launch its Metro Wave network services suite.

Ciena implemented a data center interconnect (DCI) solution featuring its Waveserver Ai, 6500 Packet-Optical Platform, and Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) software. This enabled Iron Mountain to provide on-demand optical capacities up to 100G with ultra-low latency, creating a thriving ecosystem for its customers. The solution provided a tremendous competitive edge, allowing the customer to scale and respond to changing network connectivity needs on demand.
