To address this, Iliad worked with vendor Ciena to deploy its Waveserver 5 platform powered by WaveLogic 5 Extreme coherent optics.

By implementing Ciena's solution, Iliad became the first provider to offer 800Gb/s speeds in France and Italy. The technology provided a 4 to 8 times increase in data throughput per wavelength and boosted fiber capacity by 75-160%. These efficiency gains significantly reduced Iliad's cost per bit, equipment footprint, and energy consumption, enabling it to launch new 5G and cloud services primarily using its existing infrastructure.
