How Interxion Is Growing its Data Center Operations with Scalable, Agile DCI Networks

Interxion, a carrier- and cloud-neutral data center operator, needed to expand its Marseille operations but faced real estate and power constraints next to its original MRS1 facility. To keep growing and preserve seamless customer access to subsea cables, cloud providers, and connectivity partners, Interxion turned to Ciena’s data center interconnect (DCI) solution.

Ciena helped Interxion connect its new MRS2 data center, located about two and a half miles away, to MRS1 with a high-speed, resilient DCI network. The result is a single logical data center campus with scalable, reliable, and lower-cost interconnections, support for many wavelengths on a single fiber pair, faster self-service provisioning, and a platform Interxion plans to extend to other European cities such as Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, and Paris.
