Executing a site exit on an unprecedented scale

Ciena helped a UK Tier 1 Telecommunications Company tackle a forced site exit at one of its major locations. The customer needed to remove hardware and migrate services without disrupting customers, while also adding capacity where needed across its network.

Ciena delivered an end-to-end migration and decommissioning service using its five-stage network transformation process: strategy, evaluation, planning, execution, and closure. The project successfully moved 62 x 10GB channels and 73 x 100GB channels across 28 sites, was completed on time and within budget, and included sustainable hardware decommissioning aligned with the customer’s sustainability goals.
