Crosslake Fibre turns up ‘CrossChannel Fibre’ subsea route with Ciena

Crosslake Fibre, a network service provider and developer of critical communications infrastructure in North America and Western Europe, needed to expand capacity and resiliency on a new submarine cable route between Slough, UK, and Paris, France. The company turned to Ciena to support its CrossChannel Fibre project as demand for high-capacity, low-latency connectivity continued to grow.

Ciena implemented a seamless submarine cable and terrestrial GeoMesh Extreme network using the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform powered by WaveLogic 5 Extreme, along with Navigator Network Control Suite and Liquid Spectrum’s Channel Margin Gauge. The solution enabled Crosslake Fibre to scale transport from 600Gbps to 800Gbps in real time, improve protection against cable-fault outages, and maximize asset value while keeping network ownership costs in check.
