Crosslake Fibre, a developer of critical communications infrastructure, needed to augment an aging subsea cable connecting the UK and France to support growing bandwidth demands from cloud, video, and IoT traffic. To address this challenge, they turned to Ciena for a new high-capacity, low-latency network solution.

Ciena implemented its GeoMesh Extreme submarine and terrestrial network solution, powered by the 6500 Packet-Optical Platform with WaveLogic 5 Extreme. This was combined with Ciena's Navigator Network Control Suite to enable real-time capacity scaling from 600Gbps to 800Gbps. The solution provided Crosslake Fibre with significantly more bandwidth and resiliency, protected against outages, and helped keep network ownership costs in check.
