Bestel, a leading telecommunications operator in Mexico, faced the challenge of expanding internet coverage and providing reliable communication services to meet rising bandwidth demands from remote work, telehealth, and streaming. To address the digital gap, especially in rural and regional communities, Bestel partnered with vendor Ciena to enhance its core network.

Ciena's solution involved deploying a high-capacity 100G DWDM packet network using its 8700 Packet-Optical Platform and 5170 Service Aggregation Platform. This provided cost, footprint, and power savings while enabling Bestel to efficiently scale its network. Ciena's Manage, Control and Plan (MCP) domain controller provided network management and analytical insights. The result is a more reliable network that delivers faster digital services across 32 states in Mexico, helping to connect underserved communities.
