A Chronosphere Case Study
Robinhood, the commission-free FinTech trading app, was struggling with an expensive, in-house Grafana Mimir observability stack that produced frequent Sev 1 outages, missed SLAs, long query timeouts, and only two weeks of metrics retention—jeopardizing uptime, troubleshooting, and customer trust. After evaluating options, Robinhood chose Chronosphere’s observability platform as a SaaS replacement to meet its availability, performance, and scale requirements.
Chronosphere deployed its cloud-native observability platform (open-source compatible) to replace the Mimir backend, delivering measurable improvements: availability increased to at least 99.9%, query latency improved more than 8x, “time to glass” improved 9x (from ~45s to ~5s), MTTD dropped 4x (2 minutes to 30 seconds), retention rose from 2 weeks to 13 months, dashboards that took 15 minutes now load in seconds, engineering time spent managing monitoring fell by one third, and Sev 0/Sev 1 incidents (75% of critical incidents) were eliminated.
