Case Study: Genius Sports achieves faster development and high availability with Chronosphere

A Chronosphere Case Study

Preview of the Genius Sports Case Study

Genius Sports Improving Development Speed While Ensuring High Availability

Genius Sports, a high-volume sports data company, faced constant metrics data loss and visibility gaps as it moved services to the cloud—mixing Prometheus in EKS with a legacy Graphite/StatsD setup that strained speed, scale and developer time. Seeking a hosted, Grafana-compatible monitoring solution that supported StatsD and Prometheus and offered easy migration, Genius Sports piloted and then adopted Chronosphere’s hosted monitoring-as-a-service.

Chronosphere provided a fully hosted, cloud-native monitoring platform that consolidated metrics, abstracted onboarding and replaced data-center appliances. After a one-month pilot, Chronosphere was expanded across teams, eliminating reliance on on-prem monitoring, restoring consistent visibility to reduce outage resolution time, enabling application-level alerting and cutting developer overhead (previously costing one to two developer days in some sprints), allowing engineers to move faster and ship with greater confidence.
