A Chronosphere Case Study
Cudo, originally a cryptocurrency mining platform now expanding into fog computing, faced major limits with a homegrown MySQL- and Prometheus-based monitoring stack. The system had very short retention and fixed resolutions, no ability to aggregate time-series data, and left internal teams effectively “flying blind” — meaning forks or other issues were often only noticed after users complained. Cudo turned to Chronosphere’s hosted solution based on M3DB to address these gaps.
Chronosphere replaced Cudo’s brittle stack with a scalable, hosted time-series platform that provides finer granularity, longer retention, and aggregation across the fleet. As a result Cudo can proactively detect problems (for example, spotting cryptocurrency network forks and updating nodes before users notice), debug faster, and give large clients consolidated dashboards showing metrics like regional power consumption for cost optimization and hardware health — materially reducing customer impact and improving operational insight.
