EnglishCentral is an online English-learning site that uses streaming video, interactive video, speech recognition, bi-directional audio, and live conversations to serve more than a million users. As it expanded beyond Japan, Korea, Brazil, and other regions, it saw China as its largest potential market, but delivering video and webpages from outside the country was difficult because its servers were in the Amazon cloud and China had limited gateways to the outside world.

EnglishCentral chose ChinaCache to help deliver its service in China without rebuilding its infrastructure there. ChinaCache routed requests from inside China through its network and back to EnglishCentral’s Amazon cloud servers in the United States, which resolved the company’s Chinese networking problems in a straightforward way. The case study says the setup helped EnglishCentral reach more than a million Chinese learners and supported plans to expand video learning on mobile devices.
