Dc Water Uses Adaptable Fleet Software to Boost Asset Utilization

DC Water, the District of Columbia Water and Sewer Authority, needed a way to manage not just its vehicle fleet but broader organizational assets and processes while eliminating paper-based workflows, duplicate records and limited visibility. The authority sought better control of maintenance and vehicle usage, reductions in fuel waste driven by poor driving practices, and a system that could standardize procedures across teams.

By implementing Chevin’s FleetWave as an adaptable, enterprise-wide platform, DC Water went paperless and centralized fuel, telematics (Geotab), key control and motor-pool reservations. Integrated reporting and automated “bad practice” alerts reduced fuel losses, improved vehicle utilization and maintenance planning, and drove cultural change around process compliance—delivering measurable efficiency gains and international recognition.
