Stimulating Interoperability with HL7 Protocol and Message Structure

LabThruPut, a healthcare software provider focused on improving the accuracy and efficiency of clinical lab results, hired Chetu to update its existing Windows applications and expand into the human healthcare market. The main challenge was enabling interoperability with EHR and hospital systems while continuing to support its veterinary middleware and lab automation products.

Chetu implemented a custom HL7 interoperability and communications platform using HL7, XML, C#, and WinForms to convert messages between HL7 and XML, simulate real-world data exchanges, and connect host EHRs like EPIC and Athena with lab instruments and LabThruPut’s systems. The solution enabled secure bi-directional messaging, improved compatibility with healthcare standards, and helped LabThruPut enhance its product offering and pursue new growth opportunities without leaving the veterinary space.
