Newark Public Schools, the largest school district in New Jersey, faced a challenge with its manual and inefficient textbook procurement process. To streamline this annual Advanced Orders process and improve tracking with publishers, NPS partnered with vendor CherryRoad Technologies to implement a solution using PeopleSoft eProcurement.

CherryRoad collaborated directly with publisher Pearson to develop a unique punch-out system that integrated NPS's eProcurement with Pearson's OASIS application. This solution eliminated the need for manual catalogs and faxed orders, reducing processing time from several days to just one day and significantly improving order accuracy. For CherryRoad's client, NPS, this resulted in major efficiency gains, while also providing Pearson with a new competitive advantage in the educational publishing market.
