A Check Point Software Case Study
Yankuang Group, a large energy and mining conglomerate based in Zhucheng, China with 50 subsidiaries, operations in China and Australia, 100,000 employees and annual sales of RMB 11.258 billion, needed to centrally manage IT and security across a complex, growing environment. Facing 80 branch networks, some 20,000 computer users and many disparate applications (ERP, email, production systems), traditional antivirus and ACLs were inadequate; the company required secure, manageable remote access for branch offices and teleworkers and a solution that could scale as the infrastructure expanded.
Check Point deployed a scalable, centrally managed security architecture using Integrated VPN Software Blades, SSL VPN remote access and 50 IP Appliances in dual clusters at network chokepoints, with multiple-access VPNs and ISP redundancy for higher availability. The result was secure, reliable access for branch and mobile users (including PDA access), real-time centralized management across China and Australia, simplified administration, reduced operating costs and a flexible, cost-effective platform that can scale with Yankuang’s growth.
