A Check Point Software Case Study
Walters-Dimmick Petroleum, a Shell fuel marketer operating convenience stores across Michigan, Indiana and Ohio, needed secure, always-on Internet for 58 retail locations to support email, corporate communications and payment processing. After moving from dial-up to broadband, the company required robust security, centralized management and PCI-compliant protection for cardholder data across geographically dispersed sites.
WDP deployed Check Point Safe@Office appliances with Security Management Portal (SMP) On‑Demand, a hosted SaaS management platform, to centrally manage gateways with a simple web UI. The solution exceeded PCI requirements, provided wireless fallback for sites without broadband, reduced phone-line costs, enabled services like video surveillance, ATMs and customer Wi‑Fi, and delivered consistent security, simplified reporting and measurable operational and cost improvements.
