UTM-1 Adopted for Security Infrastructure of a New Application Services Business

Sooki Co., Ltd., a Japanese provider of survey and measurement equipment and 3D modeling services, needed a way to deliver new ASP‑style 3D application services to construction sites, JV offices and contractor locations with widely varying PC environments. The challenge was to provide secure, clientless remote access for large (≈1 GB) data transfers, keep operating overhead low, and standardize security across multiple offices without disrupting clients’ networks or requiring complex VPN clients.

Sooki deployed Check Point UTM-1 1050 in its Tokyo data center with SSL Network Extender and SmartDefense, and rolled out Safe@Office 500 appliances at remote sites, managed centrally and clustered for redundancy. The appliance-based solution enabled fast, low‑cost deployment of firewall, IPS, antivirus and SSL VPN services, standardized security across locations, improved availability, and shortened the time from field measurement to validated 3D models through secure web access and virtualized per‑client servers.
