The Freedom Centre Gives Disabled Adults More Liberty with Safe@Office

The Freedom Centre, an independent day centre in Sheerness serving more than 50 physically disabled adults, wanted to add Internet, email and web-design classes to increase members’ independence. Trustees were concerned about exposing a vulnerable group to offensive, illegal or malicious web content and lacked in-house IT expertise, so they engaged local security consultancy Etanda to find an affordable, managed solution.

Etanda implemented a Check Point Safe@Office appliance on the centre’s broadband link and provided remote management via Check Point’s Security Management Portal, integrating SurfControl and TrendMicro filtering and antivirus. The deployment delivered seamless, low‑cost protection and centralised oversight—blocking more than 148,500 web attacks in one month—reassuring trustees, keeping members safe without on-site security staff, and allowing simple license-based scalability for future growth.
