Shepherd and Wedderburn secure confidential client information against loss or theft

Shepherd and Wedderburn is a UK law firm with 49 partners and about 460 staff across four offices that handles large volumes of confidential client and intellectual property data. Faced with the risk of data loss, theft and malware—and needing to prevent nonbusiness software and unauthorized removable media—the firm required a solution that would protect sensitive information without overly burdening the IT team.

Shepherd and Wedderburn deployed Pointsec Protector to control and authorize removable media (with senior secretarial staff able to approve devices), rolling out over 350 licenses and supplementing protection with antivirus on select laptops. The solution is largely transparent to users, has reduced IT workload, prevented misuse of the network, blocked viruses and spyware, and helped the firm keep sensitive client data secure.
