Mobitel Secures Internet Communications with the Check Point VPN-1 Power Solution

Mobitel, a leading Slovenian mobile operator, faced growing security pressure from high-volume Internet use: its Planet web/WAP portal and mobile messaging services generated heavy traffic and thousands of daily attack attempts. The existing four-firewall legacy setup was nearing end-of-life, required multiple management consoles, and lacked the high-availability and centralized control needed to protect employees, services and mobile users.

Mobitel implemented Check Point VPN-1 Power with SmartCenter and the Eventia Suite on HP servers (SecurePlatform), deployed as four perimeter firewalls and supported locally by S&T Slovenia. The unified solution delivered superior performance, single-console management, automated reporting and event analysis, and protected ~1,200 employees and public services—enabling secure employee and mobile access, faster rollout of new services (e.g., Integral email), and a stable, upgraded security platform.
