A Check Point Software Case Study
An American low-cost airline operating 85 aircraft on 350 routes out of 120 airports needed to modernize and secure a newly virtualized environment. With legacy laptops and physical firewalls at each site, the airline faced costly, hard-to-manage infrastructure and the risk that a security or network issue at one airport could affect all locations; they needed consistent provisioning, micro-segmentation, and more automation for their VDI rollout.
The airline deployed VMware NSX alongside Check Point Infinity—CloudGuard for NSX, SandBlast zero‑day protection, and R80.10 Security Management—to enforce hypervisor-level security, automate provisioning, and centralize policy. The solution protected east–west traffic, automatically quarantined infected VMs, stopped a ransomware attack that impacted a courier, enabled fast, granular policy changes across sites, and greatly simplified security administration.
