IZA, the Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) in Germany collects and shares highly sensitive economic policy data to advise governments and support global researchers. Faced with an evolving threat landscape, IZA needed stronger network segmentation and secure remote access so data scientists could work with sensitive datasets without exposing them to cyberattacks.

IZA implemented Check Point solutions—including the Quantum Security Gateway and Check Point Next Generation Threat Prevention with SandBlast (sandboxing, threat emulation and extraction)—to block malware, mitigate DDoS risk, and enforce tiered access. The upgrade delivered a dynamic, responsive security posture, simplified segmentation, uninterrupted operations, and enabled a secure open-data initiative and remote researcher access via thin clients and a dedicated web app.
