Greek Ministry of Education Protects 65,000 Distance Learners with ZoneAlarm

The Greek Ministry of Education, which administers the country's public schools, faced an urgent 2020 challenge when COVID-19 closures forced a rapid shift to distance learning. To reach low-income students the ministry procured and distributed 65,000 tablets but needed to ensure the devices were secure, blocked inappropriate content and predators, and remained reliable so classes wouldn’t be interrupted.

The ministry selected a Greek-localized, self-managing Check Point ZoneAlarm for Institutions mobile security app with preset filtering. ZoneAlarm blocked malicious apps, URLs, zero-day threats, phishing, Wi‑Fi attacks and ransomware, enabling a fast, simple rollout that allowed students and teachers to safely download apps and browse the web while keeping tablets online and protected.
