Glatfelter Insurance Group (GIG), a York, PA–based full-service insurance broker, relied on a network of home-based sales executives to sell its Volunteer Firefighters Insurance Services (VFIS) products but found its new web-based CRM and imaging tools hamstrung by slow, costly dial‑up connections. GIG needed a faster, cost‑effective and secure way for remote reps to access sales support and communicate with underwriters and claims staff.
GIG deployed Check Point UTM-1 Edge (and UTM-1 Edge W for mobile users) at home offices and Check Point Endpoint Security for traveling laptops, providing integrated firewall, VPN, intrusion prevention and endpoint compliance managed centrally. The solution delivered always‑on high‑speed VPN access, reduced telecommunications and static‑IP costs by using dynamic IPs, sped application rollouts, and cut remote‑support time dramatically (from about 45 minutes to 5 minutes), while ensuring consistent, uniform security across all remote endpoints.
