A Check Point Software Case Study
Erdinger Weißbräu, a family-owned Bavarian brewery founded in 1886 that produces 1.5 million hectoliters annually and exports to more than 70 countries, needed a modern but manageable security environment to protect its complex IT-supported production processes. The company required clear separation of production, office and wireless networks, secure partner and remote access, high availability, and centralized, user-friendly administration.
Working with Siemens, Erdinger deployed Check Point solutions (VPN-1 Power, UTM-1 Edge, SecureClient and Enterprise Center): four firewalls with an active cluster, a cold standby for Internet failover, partner Edge connectivity and client security for remote laptops. The result was transparent, centrally managed network separation and high availability, secure partner and remote access, faster configuration rollout and greater investment longevity, with endpoint protection identified as the next area to address.
