A Check Point Software Case Study
Edwards Lifesciences, a global healthcare leader with about 5,000 employees and a major maker of heart valves and monitoring devices, needed to secure thousands of endpoints and prove compliance with strict regulations (HIPAA, FDA, SOX and others). The company found that employee desktops were a frequent source of worms, spyware and policy violations, so it required a solution that enforced access policies, ensured endpoint trust, and was easy to manage at global scale.
After evaluating vendors, Edwards deployed Check Point Integrity (with VPN-1 Pro gateways) across its estate—about 2,000 desktops initially—using centralized policy enforcement to block unsolicited traffic, verify patches/antivirus, and prevent unauthorized software or client removal. The rollout gave Edwards granular control over who and what can access the network, sped patch and update distribution from months to minutes, reduced costs and risk, and helped demonstrate compliance with HIPAA, SOX and other regulations.
