Independence Care System (ICS) is a New York–area nonprofit Medicaid-managed long‑term care plan serving more than 6,000 adults with physical disabilities across five locations. Because its appointment, scheduling and medical records systems are network‑based and mission‑critical, ICS faced strict HIPAA compliance requirements, the risk of heavy fines, and the need to maintain business continuity and member trust while simplifying multi‑site network management.
ICS deployed Check Point 4600 and 2200 Next Generation Security Appliances and a suite of Software Blades—including the Compliance Blade, Anti‑Bot, Antivirus, IPS, URL Filtering and SmartEvent—managed from a single console and virtualized for resilient multi‑site coverage. The solution delivered centralized visibility and reporting, faster recovery and simpler policy management, helped meet HIPAA best practices, protected patient records, and reduced administrative overhead and operational risk.
