A Check Point Software Case Study
CHU Charleroi is a large teaching hospital in Wallonia, Belgium (about 1,400 beds, 5,000 staff and 600 doctors) that wanted to roll out 500 Android and iOS smartphones and tablets to improve mobility and collaboration. The IT team needed to secure sensitive patient data, gain real‑time visibility into apps and threats, and preserve device usability to make a BYOD program feasible.
The hospital deployed Check Point SandBlast Mobile, a mobile threat defense solution that blocks malware, man‑in‑the‑middle attacks, OS exploits and phishing while providing a cloud dashboard, automatic app approval and real‑time monitoring. Deployed in late 2017, the rollout expanded beyond the initial 500 corporate devices (adding 215 more) and onboarded 192 BYOD devices, enabling secure video conferencing, remote access to medical records and faster, more agile collaboration.
