Avianca Takes Off to the Cloud Securely with Check Point

Avianca, Colombia’s national airline and a Star Alliance member serving global routes, moved key operations—starting with its Avianca.com e-commerce site—into the Microsoft Azure public cloud as part of a company-wide digital transformation. The challenge was to migrate to Azure while preserving robust security, micro-segmenting the network to reduce risk, and maintaining compliance with SOX, PCI, ISO 27000 and GDPR.

Avianca deployed Check Point CloudGuard IaaS for Azure and Check Point R80 Management to extend on‑premises protections to the cloud, using firewall, antivirus, IPS, anti‑bot, micro‑segmentation and continuous compliance monitoring. The familiar Check Point stack enabled rapid deployment, unified visibility and faster incident response; results included improved website stability, higher sales from reduced downtime, simplified compliance and no business‑disrupting cyberattacks.
