Sunday brings the ease of online payments to the offline dining experience

Sunday is a restaurant payment platform that brings the ease of online payments to the offline dining experience. As tighter margins and the need to turn tables faster put pressure on the restaurant industry, Sunday needed a way to make card-not-present payments feel as seamless and low-friction as contactless in-person payments. To support this, Sunday used Checkout.com’s Acquiring, Authentication, and Intelligent Acceptance products.

Checkout.com implemented Intelligent Acceptance to optimize authentication, 3D Secure triggering, TRA exemptions, payment messaging, and retry strategies without extra integration work. The result was an 8% increase in acceptance rates on some card networks and markets, plus a 1.4% uplift in some markets and card types from tailored retries. Sunday also saved around 15 minutes per table, helping improve customer experience, increase spend and tips, and boost overall restaurant efficiency.
