Watterott electronic adds Checkmk agent to 80+ open-source repositories for microcontroller monitoring

Watterott electronic, an electronics company specializing in open hardware and DIY components, needed a reliable and efficient method to monitor climate conditions like CO2 levels in factory and office environments. Common smart building solutions were often too complex, and there was no systematic way to centrally collect and evaluate sensor data from their CO2 monitoring devices.

Checkmk provided the solution when a community member created an extension for the Checkmk agent to monitor microcontrollers. Watterott electronic integrated this lightweight, open-source agent directly into the firmware of their CO2 traffic light pro, enabling instant monitoring of hardware status and environmental sensors. This allowed for smart, preventative climate monitoring with minimal effort. As a result, Watterott electronic now uses Checkmk to safeguard its own workshops, optimizing safety and operations, while customers can seamlessly add these devices to their monitoring. The adaptable Checkmk agent also opens up a wide range of applications for other Arduino-compatible hardware in the smart building space.
