Leeds Beckett University, a public university in England, needed a better way to handle its annual Clearing Day process and reduce the high volume of phone calls from rejected applicants. The university wanted to automate course qualification and offer handling more efficiently, and turned to Chatfuel for a Messenger chatbot solution.
Using Chatfuel, Leeds Beckett launched “Becky,” a chatbot that qualified applicants in real time, collected user details, connected visitors through the website’s Customer Chat plugin, and escalated complex cases to staff via Live Chat and email notifications. The campaign generated $3.1 million in new enrollments in one day, with 89 of 191 students accepting offers on Messenger for a 46% conversion rate, nearly double the conversion rate of phone support.
