Memorial Health System preserves rural OB care with The Chartis Group and supports 100K+ physicians

Memorial Health System (MHS), a critical access hospital in rural Kansas, faced the challenge of placing its obstetric program on diversion due to staffing shortages, threatening local access to care for its community. MHS and its affiliate Salina Regional Health Center engaged The Chartis Group to conduct a program assessment and develop a sustainable model for rural OB care.

The Chartis Group helped design and implement a collaborative care model that brought together MHS family physicians and OB-GYNs from Salina Regional. This solution streamlined patient care through a shared medical record and virtual visits, prioritizing patient safety and ensuring long-term financial stability. The new program preserved local access to quality maternity care for over 950 pregnant patients and was supported by more than 100 physicians across both health systems.
