Case Study: Financial Times boosts traffic and reader engagement with Chartio

A Chartio Case Study

Preview of the Financial Times Case Study

How the Financial Times Reaches Their Readers with Chartio

The Financial Times, an international business daily founded in 1888, faced a digital-age engagement challenge: 90% of article views occurred within 48 hours of publication, and the social team’s ad-hoc process for resurfacing archival content lacked scale and data-driven direction. They needed a centralized, real-time way to identify which archived stories could be reshared to re-engage readers and extend article lifespans.

The FT ingested event data into VoltDB and blended it with search, social and production data in Chartio to build a dashboard that surfaces archived articles with rising traffic and their traffic sources. The data-driven workflow—used across social teams since August 2016—enabled targeted resharing, increased internal click-throughs and readership, and extended the useful lifespan of archived content.
