United Way of Northwest Alabama - Customer Case Study

United Way of Northwest Alabama needed a better way to coordinate assistance among local churches and community agencies after Hurricane Katrina brought hundreds of displaced families into the Shoals region. Working with vendor Charity Tracker, the organization and its partners sought a shared case-management and communication tool to reduce duplication of aid, improve real-time communication, and help manage a growing network of care.

Charity Tracker helped create SEANtracker, a web-based system that let 50 churches and agencies share client records, track assistance, post bulletins, and flag potential fraud or difficult cases. The result was a large decrease in duplicated services, faster response times, and better stewardship of limited resources; in 2008 alone, the network logged 21,700 case records. With Charity Tracker, a need that once took multiple phone calls to verify could now be met in minutes, often reaching families much faster and more efficiently.
