Phrase, a global AI-led localization platform, was struggling with manual billing work, limited visibility into revenue data, and a fragmented subscriber experience caused by separate subscriptions, invoices, and renewal dates. As its growth plans expanded into usage-based pricing, product diversification, and acquisitions, its homegrown billing system no longer scaled well. Phrase turned to Chargebee, using Chargebee Billing and Chargebee Entitlements to modernize subscription management.

Chargebee implemented automated billing, renewals, proration, and mid-cycle changes, while integrating with Salesforce, NetSuite, Stripe, PayPal, Avalara, and other systems. The result was a unified subscription experience with centralized entitlements, single invoices, and coordinated renewals. Phrase also centralized billing across entities with Chargebee’s Multi-Business Entity feature, maintained a lean 2-FTE billing team despite strong revenue growth, improved scalability and efficiency, and gave engineering more time to focus on product development.
