YIT, a construction and property development company, needed a better way to develop commercial properties that match resident trends, serve changing demographic needs, and understand tenants and users early enough to strengthen leasing power. The challenge was to turn the Maria hospital area in Helsinki into a sustainable, mixed-use innovation campus while keeping the project aligned with community needs. YIT worked with CHAOS and its CHAOS essentials™ license to support concept validation and stakeholder engagement.

CHAOS implemented digital citizen engagement, including geofencing and real-time mobile collaboration, to gather crowd insights, demographics, and feedback from residents, users, and other stakeholders. As a result, YIT validated development concepts, established two-way tenant–lessor communication, and gained access to trend and service-need data to guide future campus planning. CHAOS helped YIT improve the area’s livability and attractiveness, supporting the broader goal of creating a vibrant urban center and innovation environment.
