Ford Motor Company turned to Chaordix to rapidly engage city residents and entrepreneurs in solving urban mobility challenges through open innovation. Using Chaordix’s crowd-innovation communities to run Mobilize New York and Go Detroit, Ford asked diverse stakeholders to identify barriers to reliable transportation and co-create practical solutions that supported its shift from automaker to mobility provider.
Chaordix ran guided online communities and live prototyping sessions that moved participants from problem identification to idea refinement and voting, with mentorship and prize support. The campaigns drew over 1,700 participants and generated more than 6,000 contributions; winning teams shared $30,000 in New York and $60,000 in Detroit, and several finalists entered ongoing discussions and support for implementation. Chaordix’s platform delivered measurable community engagement, a pipeline of actionable concepts (from ride-hailing apps to shuttle services), and concrete follow-up opportunities for Ford.
