A CHAMPS Software, Inc. Case Study
The Port Authority of Jamaica (PAJ) is the government agency charged with regulating and developing Jamaica’s ports and shipping industry. Operating major terminals in Kingston (Kingston Container Terminal), Montego Bay, and Ocho Rios, PAJ faced the complexity of coordinating maintenance, inventory, procurement and financial processes while ensuring vessel safety and proper tariff regulation across multiple busy ports.
To address this, PAJ implemented the CHAMPS CMMS—covering Maintenance, Inventory, Purchasing and Accounts Payable—at its three main ports. The system centralized workflows, improved maintenance scheduling and asset management, streamlined purchasing and payment processes, and reinforced regulatory oversight, resulting in safer navigation, more efficient operations, and clearer control over tariffs and port services.
