V.C. Summer (VCS), a SCANA nuclear power station in Jenkinsville, SC, has relied on CHAMPS Enterprise Asset Management for maintenance management for more than three decades across four software platforms. Faced with regulatory and operational challenges — including preserving decades of maintenance records to secure a Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) license extension for Unit 1, supporting the construction and ITAAC requirements for new Unit 2, and managing corrective actions across the plant — VCS needed a robust, auditable system to prove compliance and drive safe, efficient operations.

VCS deployed CHAMPS’ flagship EAM alongside its ITAAC and Corrective Action (CA) applications, integrated with a workflow engine to manage approvals and issue resolution. As a result, VCS secured a 20-year license extension for Unit 1 without major refurbishment (delivering substantial cost savings), used CHAMPS as a mission‑critical solution for Unit 2 construction and ITAAC tracking, and streamlined CA reporting, classification, trending and resolution as part of routine plant work processes.
