Quaker Oats’ Cedar Rapids plant—the world’s largest cereal mill at roughly 1.9 million sq. ft. with 800+ employees across three shifts—faced mounting difficulty managing maintenance and storeroom functions using manual processes. Continued growth made the manual approach cost-prohibitive and left the mill unable to reliably track parts, labor, equipment history, or maintenance costs at the level needed to sustain operations and support expansion.

Quaker implemented CHAMPS CMMS/EAM for maintenance and materials management, internally deploying work order management, preventive maintenance, component-level asset tracking and a seamless interface to their financial system. The system now handles about 200 work orders per week and manages 20,000+ SKUs with automated reorders, improving planning and scheduling, increasing wrench time, providing full cost and KPI reporting, and reducing stock-outs and maintenance costs.
