Kingston Freeport Terminal Limited (KFTL) operates Jamaica’s busy Kingston Container Terminal under a 30‑year concession and faced the challenge of taking over responsibility for a large, 24/7 trans‑shipment facility while improving communication, certification control, and complex international procurement and asset tracking previously managed by the Port Authority. Ensuring smooth turnover between maintenance and operations, accurate inventory accounting, and reliable serialized asset tracking were critical to keeping the port productive and safe.

KFTL implemented CHAMPS CMMS/EAM for maintenance, materials management, procurement and deployed CHAMPS mobile workbench for field technicians, plus flow‑status controls, multi‑currency/FIFO inventory accounting with cost markups, and serialized asset tracking. The result was clearer work‑status management and interdepartmental communication, more accurate inventory costing and vendor handoffs, faster certificate‑driven turnovers, and empowered technicians—improving asset health and overall operational reliability.
