Asset Management System Serves as Proactive Tool for Water and Wastewater Processing Facility

The City of Tallahassee Water Utility, which treats millions of gallons of water, wastewater and stormwater daily across a large municipal system, faced operational challenges from a manual maintenance process. Without a computerized system they struggled to link maintenance costs to specific assets, retain reliable work histories, control spare parts and run preventive maintenance efficiently—limiting cost control and asset reliability.

The City implemented CHAMPS CMMS/EAM to manage work requests, work orders, preventive maintenance, inventory and purchasing. The system provides real‑time dashboards and historical asset records, automates PM scheduling and inventory reordering, and links purchases to assets—enabling proactive maintenance, improved cost visibility and informed decision‑making across roughly 80 users, with plans to expand use of inventory and purchasing features.
