Arizona Public Service (APS), Arizona’s largest electric provider generating over 3,800 MW at the Palo Verde station and serving millions of customers, needed to avoid costly unplanned downtime (about $2M/day) and meet strict regulatory requirements. Existing tools like Primavera and their work scheduling system couldn’t provide a centralized, real-time visual of outage tasks, safety equipment statuses, and progress needed for disciplined outage management.

APS deployed CHAMPS Taskview to pull data from Primavera into a color-coded, 12-hour “flight screen” dashboard used in daily cross-discipline reviews. The real-time visuals and easy drilldowns improved schedule adherence, accountability and regulatory compliance, helping ensure outages are completed on time and maintain reliable power delivery.
