ERP System Positions The Cleveland Indians For Growth

The Cleveland Indians’ retail operation—18 team shops, a 3,500 sq ft ballpark store and several offsite locations—was running on a decade-old, split-platform merchandising system that was increasingly costly and unreliable. Integration between an AS/400 head office and a SQL POS was cumbersome, reporting required extensive custom coding, promotions and inventory visibility caused POS crashes and errors, and the distribution center generated excessive paperwork while the business needed to handle large game-day sales spikes and meet security/compliance needs.

The team implemented Multidev’s ChainDrive ERP to provide a single, integrated solution across POS, warehouse, accounting, pricing, allocation, open-to-buy and reporting. Since rollout maintenance costs dropped 28%, warehouse pick accuracy rose to 99.83% (up 163 basis points) with perfect picks improving 218%, unresolved inventory issues fell 96%, shrink is under 0.25% and nightly store closeouts are 33% faster; additional gains include EFT vendor payments, product photos at the POS, real-time inventory lookup, reduced paperwork and an internal planning module that saves buyers roughly 20% of spreadsheet work.
