Case Study: US Foods reduces transportation costs with Chainalytics

A Chainalytics Case Study

Preview of the US Foods Case Study

US Foods utilizes Chainalytics’ transportation sourcing methodology to enhance carrier network and lower cost

US Foods, one of the country’s largest foodservice distributors, needed help managing a complex inbound transportation network spanning 3,000+ shipping lanes and a large share of its annual freight budget. The company partnered with Chainalytics and its transportation sourcing methodology to balance cost, service, and forecastability across truckload and intermodal transportation.

Chainalytics used data analysis, market intelligence, and a two-round bidding process in US Foods’ TMS to optimize carrier selection, refine bids, and align awards with operational needs. The result was a roughly 35% reduction in the carrier base, more freight awarded to asset-based providers, and more than 6% in total savings, while also supporting smoother negotiations and contract execution.
