The Polícia Civil de Santa Catarina faced the challenge of tracing cryptocurrency stolen from a municipal government after cybercriminals moved the funds through complex blockchain transactions. Traditional investigative methods and manual tracing were ineffective, leaving the investigation at a standstill until the vendor Chainalysis offered its Reactor platform.

Chainalysis provided its Reactor blockchain intelligence solution, which enabled investigators to trace the stolen funds across 16 global exchanges and identify the actual recipients. Using Chainalysis's tools, the police executed Brazil's first-ever cryptocurrency seizure during a search warrant, recovering approximately $2,000 and uncovering a wider criminal network with existing convictions.
