Outsourcing Generates Supply Chain Efficiencies

Toshiba, a global leader in electric motors, faced rapid growth after moving production to Vietnam and lacked visibility into international logistics, consistent SOPs, and freight cost control. To support aggressive volume goals and improve service, Toshiba partnered with C.H. Robinson for a global collaborative logistics outsource, including supply chain consulting, account management, and Navisphere® TMS-driven automation and visibility.

C.H. Robinson implemented process transformation, EDI and barcode automation, container optimization, RDC network design, carrier consolidation, and ongoing account management. The program delivered measurable results: $230,000 reduction in LTL spend, $135,000 cut in Vietnam warehouse costs, $115,000 saved from Mexico aggregation/consolidation, 98% on-time performance, 90% reduction in shipping damages, 100% container fill rate, a 19% drop in transit miles from RDCs to customers, and a 14% reduction in line-haul cost per carton.
