Increasing Efficiencies through Traceability

Associated Grocers, Inc., a Baton Rouge–based retail operations support center serving more than 200 independent grocery members, needed to strengthen compliance with the Food Safety Modernization Act and implement Produce Traceability Initiative (PTI) capabilities. They engaged long-time partner C.H. Robinson to help select the right technology, grower, and operational approach, ultimately piloting FoodLogiQ’s case-and-pallet traceability software with PTI labeling (GTIN/SSCC).

C.H. Robinson coordinated a pilot with FoodLogiQ and LoBue Citrus, updated Associated Grocers’ WMS, and implemented inbound/outbound scanning to trace product from field to store. The pilot produced faster tracebacks (minutes), 100% accurate scanned data, fewer invoice reworks and shipping errors, and unexpected efficiencies with a potential bottom-line impact of 0.1–0.3 basis points, with C.H. Robinson preparing to scale the FoodLogiQ solution across other partners.
