A C.H. Robinson Case Study

Preview of the Energizer Holdings Inc. Case Study

Global Crossdock Expansion Solution Creates a Competitive Advantage

Energizer Holdings Inc., a global consumer goods company with 30 brands sold in 160 countries, faced fragmented transportation processes after several acquisitions — household and personal care lines from Asia followed different ordering and shipping flows, leading to duplicated shipments, poor visibility, under‑utilized containers and higher landed costs. To solve this, Energizer engaged C.H. Robinson to expand a successful crossdock approach and provide global forwarding expertise.

C.H. Robinson transformed the Shenzhen crossdock into a virtual stocking location, consolidating multiple vendors’ SKUs into optimized 40' containers, coordinating shipments as a regional DC, and implementing container optimization and a regular deployment cadence. The solution reduced Energizer’s transportation budget, eliminated use of 20' containers, improved container fill rates and speed to market, and cut the total weight and volume shipped between U.S. DCs by 65%; Energizer and C.H. Robinson are now rolling the model out to other regions.
